License

Last updated: 2026-08-31

This License is a draft and is not yet finalized. For current terms or questions about your account, contact support@busymate.net.

This page describes the license under which you may use the Busymate DevTools software — the hosted dashboard and API, and the iOS, Android, and CLI apps — as distinct from our broader Terms of Service, which governs your overall use of and relationship with the Service.

1. What this page covers

“The Service” means the Busymate DevTools hosted dashboard, API, realtime feed, and MCP server. “The Apps” means the iOS app, the Android app, and the command-line tools. Together, “the Software” below.

2. Your license to use the apps & service

The Software is proprietary and owned by Busymate. It is offered as a hosted service and as apps licensed for your use — you are not purchasing a copy of the Software or any ownership interest in it. Subject to our Terms of Service, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to install and use the Apps on devices you own or control, and to access the Service through your account, for as long as your account remains in good standing. This license ends when your account is terminated, whether by you or by us under the Terms of Service.

3. Third-party & open-source components

The Software is built in part on open-source software. Each of those third-party components remains governed by its own license (for example MIT, Apache-2.0, or BSD-3-Clause) — nothing in this page overrides an upstream project's own license terms. The specific packages we ship, the version of each, and its declared license are published on our Acknowledgements page, generated directly from the project's real dependency manifests rather than compiled by hand.

4. Your captured data vs. our software

This license covers the Software itself — the app and service code. It is separate from the data you capture and configure while using it. As stated in our Terms of Service, you retain your rights to the traffic, captures, and configurations you submit to the Service; using the Software does not transfer any ownership of that data to us, and licensing the Software to you does not give you any rights to our underlying source code beyond the limited use described above.

5. Acceptable use

You may only use the Service to inspect network traffic on devices, apps, and services you own or are explicitly authorized to test — the full acceptable-use rules are set out in our Terms of Service and apply to your use of the Software under this license.

6. Our intellectual property

The Busymate name, logo, and other trademarks are ours. This license does not grant you any right to use our branding except where the Service's own features expressly allow it (for example, sharing a captured entry that carries our product name).

7. How this relates to our other documents

Together with this page, our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Acknowledgements page make up the legal terms governing the Software. Where this page and the Terms of Service could be read to conflict, the Terms of Service control, since it is the broader agreement.

8. Items still pending owner sign-off

The following are deliberately not stated on this page because they are decisions the owner has not yet made:

  • whether a separate, more detailed end-user license agreement is needed for the native apps beyond the standard Apple App Store / Google Play distribution terms;
  • any additional resale, redistribution, or white-label restrictions for Enterprise customers;
  • governing law and dispute resolution, which are addressed in the Terms of Service, not repeated here.
