Alternative

A Fiddler alternative without the same-network rule

If the phone you are debugging is not on the same Wi-Fi as the laptop running Fiddler, the capture stops before it starts. Put the capture on the phone instead.

Teams look for a Fiddler alternative when the same-network requirement, the per-user subscription, or the snapshot-and-share workflow gets in the way of a distributed team debugging real devices. Busymate DevTools captures on the device wherever it is, puts every device into one feed with roles and an audit trail, and lets an AI agent act on that feed under confirmation.

Try one workflow before switching

  1. Keep your existing capture files. Pair one test device with Busymate and capture a request you already understand.
  2. Recreate one mock or breakpoint and check the result. Existing proxy settings and rules are not automatically transferred.
  3. Confirm that cloud storage, the retention window, and device access grants suit your team before moving a larger workflow.

Where the difference is

Built for the phone, the team, and the agent

Compare the complete workflow: where capture runs, how you share access, and how you automate debugging.

Capture from iPhone, Android, Chrome, the proxy, and your phone farm in one place. Teammates see requests from devices they own or have been granted access to.

459 MCP tools let your agent inspect captured traffic and act within your role. Destructive actions require confirmation.

A rack of real Android and iOS devices you mirror, tap and script from the browser — or from a sentence typed to the agent.

Permissions are enforced in the database, actions are recorded in an audit trail, and the dashboard and API cannot reveal stored vault secrets.

A fair call

When Fiddler is the right pick

Plenty of teams should keep using Fiddler. These are the cases where we would tell you to.

You want a native desktop app on all three platforms

Fiddler Everywhere is a real Windows, macOS and Linux application with a composer, rules editor and saved sessions — a complete desktop workflow.

You capture from TVs, consoles and other devices

Anything on the same network can be pointed at Fiddler — smart TVs, consoles, embedded boxes — which an on-device mobile app cannot cover.

You need a vendor with commercial support

Progress offers tiered support with response-time commitments on Pro and Enterprise. If a support contract is a requirement, that matters.

FAQ

Questions people ask before switching

Does the phone need to be on my network?

No. The iOS and Android apps capture on the device and upload to the hosted feed over whatever connection the phone has — cellular included — so a tester across the world shows up in your dashboard.

Can I keep using rules and breakpoints?

Yes. Breakpoints pause and edit, resend replays, mocks and block rules shape responses, and scripts run per device, user or service. The rules live server-side and apply to every connected source at once.

What replaces sharing a session snapshot?

Mostly nothing needs to — the feed is already shared, with roles deciding who sees which devices. For a frozen copy there are snapshots and HAR export; for a single event there is a permalink in the audit trail.

Is there a Windows desktop app?

No. The desktop side is a local proxy server plus a web dashboard, not a native Windows application. If a native desktop UI is essential, Fiddler Everywhere remains the better fit.

See your own traffic in one feed

Follow the setup guide for your capture source, then open a request in the dashboard. HTTPS decryption requires certificate trust and a supported client.
